March 31, 1949 ~ November 24, 2021

Sylvia McDaniel was born Thursday, March 31, 1949 in Talihina, Oklahoma to the late Robert McDaniel and Catherine (Thomas) McDaniel and passed from this life on Wednesday, November 24th, 2021 in Denison, Texas at the age of 72.

Sylvia grew up in Idabel and is a member of the Choctaw Nation. She was employed as a nurse’s aid several years and later worked in janitorial until her health began to decline. Sylvia enjoyed going places and loved her family especially her grandkids.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Glenda Perez Monticello; granddaughter, Tashina Catherine Denise Perez; a sister, Miriam John Thorlacius; and brothers, Daniel McDaniel and Christopher McDaniel.

Sylvia is survived by her children, Audie Cummins Jr. of Ardmore, Sharlene Cummins and her significant other, Sheila Jackson, of Ardmore, OK, Antonio Cummins of Durant, OK, and Ashley Jaimes and husband, Jose, of Calera, OK; sister, Della Gibson and husband, Cliff, of Calera; brother, Gideon McDaniel of Atoka, OK; grandkids Jordan, Crystal, Brandon, Amanda, Sonya, Ildefonso, Fluffy, Andrew, Michael, Marlee Jo, and Christopher; great-grandkids Mercedes, Kyra, Zayne, Austin, Jordan, Ava, Madelin, Anissa and Amanda; and numerous nieces and nephews.

uneral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, Nov. 29th, in Brown’s Funeral Home chapel in Durant with Rev. Thomas Little officiating and assisted by Pastor Olin Williams. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Denison, Texas with Michael Jaimes, Antonio Cummins, Al Mendoza, Brandon McDaniel, Jordan McDaniel and Audie Cummins serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, Nov. 28th, from 6PM to 8PM at Brown’s Funeral Home in Durant.
