J.L. "Jake" McDaniel, age 78 of Lawton, passed away October 15, 2019, at the Sunset Estates in Purcell. Jake was born August 9, 1941. He was 1 of 5 children and the only son of Everett Arlanda McDaniel and Ora Irene (Jay) McDaniel.
Jake was raised in the Lawton area. He learned at a very young age the value of hard work. By age 16, Jake was driving a truck and he later joined Dolese Brothers Co. Jake drove a truck for many years, before moving to Purcell/Lexington area. Jake began working for Sunset Manor Nursing Home in Purcell as a maintenance man. He retired after more than 25 years from Sunset Estates. Jake was a hard worker and instilled these qualities in his children. He was a football junkie and his team was the Dallas Cowboys. He will be dearly missed!
He was preceded in death by:
His parents, Everett and Ora Irene McDaniel and
3 sisters, infant Karen McDaniel, Sharon Mathis and Loretta Busby.
Jake is survived by:
Two daughters, Debby Mahan of Lexington and
Courtney Hicks of Elfmore, KS;
4 sons, J. L. McDaniel Jr. of Lawton and
Tommy McDaniel of Kellyville
Ricky McDaniel of Okla. City and
Mark McDaniel of McPherson, KS;
Sister, Rosie Tibbs of Lawton, OK and
15 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren and
A host of other family and friends.
