Joel Steven McCreary, 35, of Enid was born April 18, 1985, in Enid, Okla., to Stan and Suzanne Weldon McCreary and passed away Nov. 9, 2020. He grew up in Enid, and graduated in 2003 from Enid High. Joel played the drums for a number of years, and had moved to Dallas to pursue his music as well as being a chef. He and his brother Taylor were members of the band Southern Drive, playing all over Oklahoma and Texas.
In 2019, he became a caregiver for his grandfather Donnie Weldon. They became very close during their time together.
Despite his illness the last years of his life, Joel never lost his positive energy and sense of humor.
Joel is preceded in death by his father and grandparents.
He is survived by son, Jackson McCreary; mother, Suzanne McCreary; brother, Taylor McCreary; sister, Melanie Sommers and her husband Kevin; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and many family members and friends.
Cremation arrangements are under direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
