Memorial services for Robert Dean McConnell will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 4, 2018, at the Alva Church of the Nazarene with Rev. William S. Kalfas officiating. He was cremated at his request under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Alva.
Robert Dean McConnell, son of the late Cliston Ralph and Gail Geneva (Sommers) McConnell, was born July 2, 1947, in Cherokee, Oklahoma, and passed away July 23, 2018, in Enid, Oklahoma, at the age of 72 years and 21 days.
Robert graduated from Cherokee High School and attended some vocational classes. He was a maintenance worker for the El Reno School system for a number of years. He moved to Alva after his retirement.
He was a member of the Alva Church of the Nazarene. He enjoyed adult coloring books and collecting ceramic bears. He loved being around his friends and family as much as he could.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Virgil Lee McConnell and one nephew.
Robert is survived by his sister, Virginia Kay Hawley of Enid; two nephews, Michael Dean Hawley of Cherokee and Shannon Lee McConnell of Amarillo; other relatives and friends.
Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to Alva Church of the Nazarene.
