Lillian entered this world on April 28, 1941 at Muskogee, Oklahoma, the daughter of Weldon and Josephine (Jerry) Marshall. She passed away on Memorial Day, peacefully, at her home. Lillian received her undergraduate degree in Piano Performance and her teaching certificate from the University of Arkansas in 1963, where she was a member of the University Symphony Orchestra, Sigma Alpha Iota Music Honor Society, and Alpha Delta Pi Sorority (Delta Delta Chapter). She later obtained her Master's in Piano Performance from the University of Tulsa.
Lillian married George McConnell of Fayetteville in June of 1964. She is survived by her daughter Elizabeth McConnell Alpert of Tulsa, OK, her son Timothy Marshall McConnell of Cave Springs, AR and her three grandchildren, Miriam and Lydia Alpert and Mark McConnell.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Tulsa. In service to the Lord, she played for numerous services at many churches. Many will remember Lillian as a patient piano teacher and a truly gifted musician. She co-founded the Rose Stone Trio in 1992 which played at many weddings and events including the 2nd Presidential Inauguration of William Clinton in Washington DC. Lillian taught for many years at Tulsa Community College and Langston University. She was a 2nd-generation member of Daughters of the American Revolution. She had a tireless work ethic and used her talents to their utmost. In her later years she traveled widely with her mother, children, grandchildren, and friends.
Lillian loved God and began each morning and ended each day in His Word and in prayer. Her love and joys were boundless for her children, grandchildren, family and friends. She treated all with love, kindness, and support. She shared her God-given talents with a glad heart and always without reservation. She is now at peace and rest with her Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ
Lillian will be truly missed in many lives.
Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 5, 2021 at St. Paul United Methodist Church.
