ENID, OK - A private memorial service celebrating and honoring the life of Mr. Larry Gilbert McCarter will be at a later date.
He was born January 28, 1947, in Newkirk, Okla. His parents were Leroy and Marcene McCarter and Red Coate.
He was raised and educated in Newkirk. He graduated in 1965, then served in the United States Air Force for four years.
On February 14, 1969, he married Kathryn Schall of Ponca City, Okla. They later made their home in Ponca City, where he worked at Firestone.
In 1978, they moved to Enid, Okla., with Firestone. He went to work at Vance Air Force Base in 1982 and retired in 2012.
His family includes his wife; two sons, Jason and wife Amy and Jerod and wife Angela; one daughter, Lori and husband Nick Shackleford; five grandchildren; two sisters, Norma Nearhood of Winfield, Kan., and Zella Hotep; and one brother, Lee Coate of Sedan, Kan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather and one grandbaby, Liam.
