Booker McCalister died of natural causes at Woodland Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, April 30, 2002 at the age of 90.
Born Feb. 12, 1912 in Tom, Okla., to the late Daniel Richard McCalister and Dora (Owens) McCalister, Mr. McCalister was married to the late Erie (Gilbert) McCalister who died in 1970. Mr. McCalister is survived by four children, Gussie Constant, of Woodland, Barbara Hughey, of Penryn, Bonnie Bacon, of West Sacramento, and his son, Leroy McCalister of Knights Landing. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
Mr. McCalister was well known throughout the Knights Landing community. Many years ago he was active in the community as a local merchant. Family members stated Mr. McCalister was happiest with a fishing pole in hand. Recently, Mr. McCalister had served 50 years in the Masonic Lodge.
Graveside services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Friday, May 3, 2002, at the Knights Landing Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, family members request donations be made to the Shriner's Children's Hospital or the charity of donor's choice.
