Barbara Ellen McBride, 87, of the Falconhead Resort Community, Burneyville, OK, passed away Sunday, March 13, 2022, at Mercy Hospital in Ardmore, OK. Her journey in life began in Ponca City, OK, on August 9, 1934. She was the daughter of Mark R. and Alberta C. (McCall) Barton.
Barbara grew up in Ponca City and was a graduate of Ponca City High School Class of 1952. Barbara worked as an Administrative Assistant (and held other clerical positions) in the oil industry for over 30 years. After spending some years in California, she moved closer to her sons in Euless, TX. In 2003, she moved back to Oklahoma and married Doyle McBride. She became very active in the Falconhead Community and was a member of the Falconhead Chapel. She dearly loved the people there and they loved her.
Barbara was quick-witted, a real “sparkplug”, and loved to do things her own way. She loved nature, bird watching, cooking, music, playing cards, Maui (Hawaii), and she was very much a wordsmith, never letting a crossword puzzle have the last word. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her grandchildren, Jason Foster and wife, Toma, of Liberty, MO; Travis Foster of Tonkawa, OK, and Tristan Foster of Ponca City, OK; Tony Foster and family, Broken Arrow, OK, and Christina Cheney and family, Sand Springs, OK; great-grandsons, Chase Foster of Los Angeles, CA, Kollin Foster of Liberty, MO, and Koltin Foster of Liberty, MO; A niece, Connie Liebenau, of Cushing, OK, and a host of extended family and close friends.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Doyle McBride; parents, Mark and Alberta Barton; sons, Terry Foster and Gary Foster; grandson, Kyle Foster; sister, Leta Hawkins; and brother, Ray Barton.
No services are scheduled at this time for Barbara. Cremation has been entrusted to Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Marietta.
