The family of Ivan McAdoo, 72, of Chickasha will hold a memorial service on Saturday, July 14, 2007, at 2:00 p.m., at his home located at 1121 N. 11th, in Chickasha.
Ivan Gene McAdoo was born July 2, 1935, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, the son of Hershel and Edith (Burns) McAdoo.
He died July 4, 2007, at his home in Chickasha.
Ivan grew up and attended schools in Oskaloosa, Iowa. He came to Oklahoma in 1975, moving to Chickasha in 1982.
He had worked in the oil field, various construction jobs, and for Don Cumins Salvage.
After an 8 year courtship, Ivan and Sandra (Johnson) McAdoo were married, on July 2, 1975, in Lancaster, Missouri.
They were married for almost 30 years before she preceded him in death on March 22, 2004.
Ivan enjoyed the outdoors, mechanic work, working on and tinkering with just about anything, spending time with his family and his coffee drinking buddies.
Ivan was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra; both parents; and eight brothers and sisters.
He is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law: David McAdoo, of Iowa, Kevin and Karen McAdoo, of Chickasha, and Ronald and Karla McAdoo, of Ninnekah; step-son and daughter-in-law: Nick and Ann Elsworth, of Chickasha; two step-daughters and son-in-law: Peggy and George Foster, of Noble, and Pam Foster, of Holdenville; four brothers; five sisters; fifteen grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Cremation arrangements were under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
