Woodward – The funeral for Roy Otha McAdams, 66, retired Colonel of the U. S. Army, will be at 2 PM Friday at Round Grove Baptist Church in Round Grove, Texas. Burial will be in Round Grove Cemetery, Comanche County, near DeLeón, Texas.
The casket will be open at Billings Funeral Home in Woodward from 9 AM to 9 PM Tuesday.
A Memorial service will be observed at 7 PM Wednesday at the Moose Lodge No. 452.
He was born October 20, 1922, in Comanche County and died Sunday at his home in Woodward.
McAdams attended DeLeón schools and entered the U. S. Army serving in the Air Corps as a glider pilot during World War I I. He was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor and retired as a Colonel. He then worked in sales living in Denver, Colorado, and at St. Louis, Missouri, moving to Woodward in 1975. He owned and operated the South Woodward Auto Sales the past two years and was a member of the Woodward VFW Post 1335 and the Moose Lodge where he served as governor since April 1988.
Surviving are one son, Roy James of Summerville, South Carolina; two daughters, Kathryn McAdams of Marthasville, Missouri, and Mary E. Fricke of Hermann, Missouri; two brothers, Omer of Smithville, Texas, and Mac of Longview, Texas; six grandchildren; and one great – granddaughter.
