Matthew James Maxwell passed away on Sunday, July 15, 2018. He was 50 years old. Matt was born to Robert James Maxwell and Sandra (Bailey) Compton in Alva, Oklahoma on June 20, 1968.
God, family and friends are what kept Matt going daily. He loved his kids dearly. Matt enjoyed going to the casinos and gambling, designing flower beds with his landscaping business, hunting deer, raising chickens and fishing. He was employed by the Okmulgee Fire Department for 10 years, a member of the Cornerstone Foursquare Church in Okmulgee for over 15 years and a member of the Elks Lodge.
Preceding Matt in death is his father Robert James Maxwell, dad Carol Wilson, and sister in law Janice Sparks.
Left cherishing all the wonderful memories of Matt are his mother Sandra Compton; wife Darla Maxwell; children Mandra Maxwell and boyfriend Skylar Schulz, Cortney Dolan and Dawson Barnes; grand dog Snoop and his furry companions Maddie and Marley; brothers John and wife Diann and Tim Wilson and wife Tonda and David Gregg; sisters Amadawn and Rose; nieces and nephews Talon, Tabe, Savanna and Logan; sister-in-law Carm Warren and husband Mike; brother-in-law Kevin Sparks and Tim Turley; stepmom Wanda Buckley; and special friends Charlie and Teresa Dildine and Roger Goodno.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. on July 21, 2018, at the Cornerstone Foursquare Church in Okmulgee with Preacher Mickey Baldwin tofficiating.
Arrangement and cremation services have been entrusted to the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.
