Carmen Jean (Carden) Maxey

Carmen Jean Maxey, 76, of Blanchard, died Thursday, April 5, 2018, in Norman. The daughter of James Price Carden and Martha Ruth (Galbreath) Carden, she was born October 21, 1941 in Macon, Georgia.

Carmen owned and operated Good Beginnings Home Daycare for over 35 years and was Baptist in faith. She went back college late in life and graduated from Oklahoma State University at the age of 68 with a Bachelor's degree in Crimes Victim Services. Carmen had a heart for others and spent countless hours counseling and helping others in need. She was a very forward-thinking individual and her wisdom could easily be seen in her writing. In her spare time, Carmen enjoyed crocheting. Over the years, she crocheted dozens of blankets for the new babies of family members and friends. Her greatest love was her family and she was happiest when she was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She supported them whole-heartedly and could always be found cheering them on from the stands at their school programs and sporting events. Carmen was a devoted wife, loving mother, and an adoring grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her second husband, Billy Maxey; her third husband, Johnny Dial; and a grandson, Blake Lopez.

Carmen is survived by her two daughters; Lora Lopez and her husband, Tino, of Blanchard, and Robbin Lopez of Oklahoma City; three grandchildren, Jarrod Lopez of Blanchard, Tara Wilson and her husband, Kris, of Blanchard, and Lacy Chase and her husband, Ron, of Washington, Oklahoma; four great-grandchildren, Jax Lopez, Carter Lopez, Kruz Wilson, and Kaleb Wilson; several honorary grandchildren; her former husband and lifelong friend, Bill Lawson and his wife, Linda, of California; two brothers, Jim Carden and his wife, JoAnn, of California, and Phillip Carden and his wife, Terry, of California; several nieces and nephews; her beloved dog and faithful companion for 14 years, Chuy; and many other loved ones and friends.

Memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 14, 2018, at the Eisenhour Funeral Home Chapel in Blanchard. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home of Blanchard.
