Jim Matlock

Jim Matlock
October 8, 1936 ~ July 21, 2014

Jim Matlock was born October 8, 1936 in Batesville, Arkansas to Nova Katherine and Joel Henry Matlock. He passed away July 21, 2014 at Clinton, Oklahoma at the age of 77 years, 9 months and 13 days.

He moved with his family to Madill, Oklahoma. Shortly after graduating from Madill High School, he enlisted in the US Navy and was a member of the SeaBees serving 5 tours of duty during the Vietnam War. After his discharge in 1974, he moved to Sayre, Oklahoma to make his home where he worked for Arkla Gas, Simon's Petroleum and Sayre School. He was married to Jan Ford at Sayre, OK on August 26, 1987. They opened Granny's Old Closet in 1988 and it is still in operation today. Jim enjoyed working with animals and loved raising and tending his goats. He was a member of the American Legion, the VFW, where had been the Post Commander, and the Elks Lodge in Elk City.

Jim was a member of the Trinity Fellowship in Sayre.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sons, Steven and Joe, and a sister, Joanne Pearce.

He is survived by his wife, Jan, of the home; his children, Barry Ford and wife, Terri, Woodward, OK, Troy Ford and wife, Terry, Sayre, OK, Melony Slife, Sayre, OK, Brad Matlock and wife, Wendy, Rockwall, TX, and Terri Matlock, Meeker, OK; his grandchildren, Adam, Bryce, Tate, Madison, Bo, Dexter and wife, Lauren, Blake, Morgan, Garrett, Kirby, Tyler and wife, Mary, 4 great grandchildren, Elly, Ashlyn, Kennedy and Blaine; best friends, Duane and Scoopie Benz, Woodward, OK, Ike Lucas, Raymond, KS and Kathy Hise, Sayre, OK as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

In Lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the "Camp of Champions" Trinity Fellowship P.O. Box 452 Sayre, OK 73662.
