Janet Louise (Cooprider) Matheson was born on February 28, 1939 in Kaw City, Oklahoma to Eugene Theodore and Velva Allene (Caldwell) Cooprider. In the 1970's and 1980's Janet campaigned for several local and state office candidates, and was a delegate at the 1976 Republican Convention. This began her love for collecting elephants. After marrying Don and moving to Woodward, she enjoyed golfing trips with Don and friends, going to the movies, shopping, decorating for holidays, and spending time with her friends and family. She loved spending time with her children, her grandchildren, her great-grandchildren and she enjoyed being with friends, spending time at church and her faith.
She is survived by her husband Don Matheson of the home; two sons: Randy Bateman and wife Marci, Monte Bateman and wife Jean; one daughter, Ginger Cookson and husband Paul; 12 grandchildren: Blythe and Josh Benson, James and John Bateman, Ryan, Drew, and Kaylee Cunningham, Helena Cookson, Nicole Bateman, Matt Matheson, Clint Nichols, Lynsay Leatherbury; and two great-grandchildren, Henry and Nora Oberst; along with her relatives and many friends.
