Cecilia Raquel Maruri age 89 of Norman, OK passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 15, 2018 in Norman. Cecilia was born on May 13, 1928 in Valparaiso, Chile. She was the youngest of four children born to Manuel Quiroga and Raquel Riveros. Cecilia grew up in Chile where she met the love of her life, Arthur Andrew Maruri. In 1958, they moved to Chicago, Illinois where Arthur was working and attending college. That summer on July 3, 1958 Cecilia and Arthur were married in Chicago.
Arthur’s work career led them to live in various states, including Illinois, Colorado, Arizona and Florida. Cecilia first worked as a stay at home mom, raising two sons.
She was an outstanding mother and grandmother. She was always loving and caring with all. She was full of joy and always positive. She later worked as a Pre-school teacher providing care for children for many years.
In 2006, they moved to Norman, to be close to their sons. Cecilia loved to cook and was a fabulous cook. She was a member of the Norman First Baptist Church and loved spending time with her family and close friends.
She was preceded in death by:
Parents, Manuel and Raquel Quiroga.
Infant son, Marcelo Maruri;
Husband, Arthur Maruri on Feb. 22, 2015;
One brother and two sisters;
She is survived by:
Two sons,
Four grandchildren,
and a host of other relatives in Chile.
A family gathering for a celebration of her life will take place later this year in Chile. Local arrangements are by Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell, OK.
