Longtime Leavenworth, Kansas resident, Robert Anthony Martynowski Sr, age 86 of Purcell, passed away Saturday, August 29, 2020, at the Norman Regional Healthplex. He was born May 20, 1934 in Cleveland, OH, the oldest of four children born to Anthony and Josephine (Mocioler) Martynowski.
Robert was raised in Cleveland and attended school there. He answered the call to serve his country and joined the United States Army, serving in Korea. Robert was a true patriot, proud of his service and the recipient of many medals of commendation, including the distinguished Purple Heart.
Upon his return from the Korean War he married his girl, Edna in November 28, 1953. They later made their home in Leavenworth, where they raised 4 children, sons Robert Jr and Rory and daughters, Robin and Rhonda.
Robert did construction work for many years before going to work at Leavenworth Steel. He often recalled of his best days, working as a maintenance technician at Saint Mary’s College.
When he wasn’t working, Robert enjoyed tinkering on cars, and he never missed a chance to go fishing. He looked forward to visiting his family and in his later years, logged many miles on a tractor at his daughter’s farm. He was a wonderful father and grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He will be dearly missed!

His son, Robert Anthony Martynowski Jr. and
His parents, Anthony and Josephine Martynowski.
Robert is survived by:
His son, Rory Martynowski of Kansas;
Daughters, Robin Gesick and husband Bob of New Hamsphire and Rhonda Ingram Harper and husband Roy of Purcell;
Two brothers, Donald Martynowski and wife Elaine of Ohio and Ronald Martynowski of Ohio;
Sister, Janet Collins of Texas;
Three grandchildren, Mandy Ingram of Missouri, Robert Anthony III and wife Tera of Kansas and David Fryman Jr and wife Sabrina of New York;
Three great grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.
