Rubye J. Martin, 92, of Nowata, Oklahoma, died Thursday, November 21, 2019.
Rubye was born in Sagahochia, Arkansas on May 16, 1927 to Williams Henry Lyon and Martha Ellen Shumate Garrett Lyon. Later the family moved to Muskogee, Oklahoma in the rural area of Haskell. She attended grade school at Cloud Creek, later attending Phyllis Wheatly High School where she graduated as Valedictorian of her class in 1944. After graduation, she moved to Wichita, Kansas where she was employed by Boeing Aircraft as a riveter and worked in the bale out door section. She attended Wichita Business School. She also worked as a Nurse Aide at St. Francis Hospital. Later she attended Wichita Practical Nursing School earning an LPN degree. She then worked at Sedwick County Hospital until moving to Nowata in 1971. Rubye worked at Hays House, both Nursing Homes, and Part time at the Nowata Hospital.
Preceding her in death were her parents, nine brothers, one sister, her husband Julious Martin and son Darryl Martin.
She is survived by her daughter in law Ann; son Myron Terrell of Salt Lake City, Utah; daughter Cecilia Terrell of Wichita, Kansas; numerous nieces and nephews; grandchildren and great grandchildren and her very special friends Virginia and Josh Parks and Paul and Brenda Anderson.
She was loved by all and will forever be in our hearts.
