Clydena Joyce (Roach) (Patton) Martin, formerly of Enid, Oklahoma, passed away in Biloxi, Mississippi, on April 21, 2022, after a lengthy period of illness. She was born to Clyde and Elsie Roach in Marshall, Oklahoma, on February 10, 1932.
Later moving to Drummond, she attended school in Ames. She married Willis R. Patton and settled in Enid before moving to Woodward. She returned to Enid in 1971, where she remained until 2020, when she relocated to Biloxi, Mississippi.
She married Joseph O. Martin, Jr., on April 21, 1972. Joe was a homebuilder, and Joyce was an interior decorator. They owned the Carpet Market store in Enid for many years during Enid's late '70s oil boom years. After retiring, they were active at the Enid Bridge Studio where both became Duplicate Bridge Masters and served as directors. Joyce was also an accomplished painter and a published author of several semi-autobiographical novels and a collection of her poetry.
Joyce was interred with her husband, Joseph O. Martin Jr., at the Biloxi National Cemetery on April 27, 2022.
She is survived by daughters L. Yvonne (Marty) Danekind of Toledo, Ohio, Janice M. (Larry) Brown of Woodward, Oklahoma; step-sons Marshall (Elaine) Martin of Renfro, Oklahoma, Joseph (Jay) O. (Toni) Martin (III) of Mineola, Texas; and a step-daughter, Corla J. Rogers of Chicago, Illinois. She was a proud grandmother to 21 grandchildren, over 30 great-grandchildren, and many great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe; sons, Kenneth Martin Patton and James Leon and his wife Floye Patton; a daughter Brenda Joy (Randy) Simmons of Ocean Springs, Mississippi; a brother, Elmer Roach; and sisters Nola Faye Pribill and Velma Mae Norris; along with three grandchildren.
