Castiel Joe Martin

Castiel Joe Martin
January 17, 2015 ~ August 17, 2015

A celebration of the life of Castiel Joe Martin will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 21, 2015 at the First Baptist Church in Chelsea. A private family burial will follow under the direction of DeLozier Funeral Service. Visitation will be Thursday, from 4 until 8 at the funeral home with family receiving visitors. Castiel passed away on Monday, August 17, 2015. He was seven months old.

Born January 17, 2015 in Tulsa, Castiel was a true gift from God to his parents Cerik and Autumn (Kennedy) Martin. His life although brief gave him the opportunity to touch so many, not only family but also the nurses and doctors that provided his care. Dedicated to the Lord at birth by his parents, Castiel, which in Hebrew means shield of God and is referred to in God's Word as our Faith, was not only a miracle but with all his health issues made certain that his parents walked by faith each and every day.

Castiel had many favorite things, one of those being music. He would smile and giggle to anything that he liked and cry until you turned it off if it was a country song or a lullaby. He also found great delight in kissing his mom with his mouth opened wide. By doing this Castiel demonstrated the bond that existed between mother and son. Being hospitalized for over 50 per cent of his life, Castiel also developed a love of balloons and the fish on the ceiling tiles that decorated his hospital room.

Born with genetic ring Chromosome 18 the miracles that God preformed were endless. Being told at 20 weeks that his parents would never have the opportunity to meet him, to his heart growing an extra artery to provide the necessary oxygen to his little lungs. There was also this past Memorial Day weekend when Castiel had no brain waves and had to be put on a vent to breathe. Once again God showed us that he alone is the giver and taker of life and this little guy not only made a full recovery but extubated himself with his tongue.

Castiel, according to his father, had the most beautiful blue eyes in the whole world. His legacy will live on in the lives of those he touched. Castiel is survived by his parents Cerik and Autumn Martin, grandparents Cecil and Letha Martin and Sheri and Larry Kennedy, great-grandparents Jim and Earlene Rott, Larry and Myrtle Kennedy, Roy and Anna Mae Abel, aunts and uncles Austin Kennedy, Jorel Martin and wife Leila, Destiny Kennedy, and Dawn Prusator and husband Michael, God parents Nick and Michelle Connelly. Castiel was preceded in death by his great-grandparents Joe and Jeannie Martin.
