Carolyn Louise Markes, devoted wife, loving mother, mother-in-law, MiMi, Aunt Carolyn and friend to many, passed away at the age of 70 years and 11 months on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Carolyn was born on April 7, 1948 to Jack & Mary Wehling and was the youngest of two children. She attended elementary school in Douglas, Oklahoma and graduated from Waukomis High School in 1966. She attended Drawns Business College in Oklahoma City. She served faithfully in the Administration Office at Beggs Public Schools for 23 years where she retired in 2007.
Carolyn married the love of her life, J Ernest Markes, on January 28, 1967 in Bison, OK, at St. Joseph's Church. They began their journey in Kansas City, MO, then to Ft. Polk, LA then on to Yukon, OK and finally settling at their current home place in Beggs, OK in 1976 where they raised their family and currently reside.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack & Mary Wehling.
Carolyn is survived by her husband of 52 years, J Ernest Markes, three sons, J.D. Markes and wife Jana, Derrick Markes and wife Andrea, and Travis Markes and wife Erin, eight grandchildren, Leslie, Dalton, Dakota, Daniel, Rebekah, Hannah, Leah, and Denver, one brother, Dale Joe Wehling of Waukomis, OK, numerous nieces and nephews, family members and friends.
Carolyn (MiMi) was loved by all who met her and she will be remembered for many things. Her love of nature; she spent many hours walking in the hills behind her home enjoying God's creation, especially the Red Bud trees. She loved ALL people, ANY and every people and she loved with God's love. Her love for family was amazing. She kept their hearts full of love and their bellies full of hoska, hot rolls and fried chicken. Carolyn will be remembered for her overwhelming love for Christ. Never wavering, never question, always believing love for Christ. This love will be her legacy as time moves forward.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Crossroads Baptist Church in Beggs, Oklahoma at 10:00am on Wednesday, March 27. The family request in lieu of flowers that donations be made to Oklahoma Cancer Specialists and Research Institute, 12697 E. 51st Street South Tulsa, OK 74146, for the treatment room snack fund. MiMi will be laid to rest on God's Mountain overlooking Markes Hollow.
The family appreciates the love that everyone has shown to MiMi. She truly loved each of you and considered every meeting a divine appointment! She strived every day to live out God's word and follow Proverbs 31 and be the woman God desired her to be every day of her life.
