David was born September 22, 1964, to Lloyd R. Mardis and Bobbie J. (Taylor) Mardis in Norman, Oklahoma and passed from this life December 2, 2024, in Enid, Oklahoma.
David grew up in Norman, Oklahoma, graduating from Norman High School with the class of 1982. He found he had a talent for mixing music while in high school and was soon a highly sought after club DJ for the next fifteen years in Oklahoma City, Colorado, California, and Austin, Texas. He was a very gifted individual in other areas as well. He studied piano, but on his own, he could hear a piece of music and then be able to play it. He also composed many original songs and uploaded them to an online song repository. He was a gifted photographer and published calendars for his family featuring his photos. He was a gifted artist as well in pen and ink. Proving that he was not only gifted in the Arts, he worked as a self-taught geologist doing mud logging in the oil field for fifteen years. He was sent to wells in several states and became so proficient with the arising technology in that field that he was asked to teach courses on it at a Vo-Tech in Oklahoma City. He moved to Enid in 2020 to be near family where he took odd jobs here and there while focusing and caring for his mother. He loved nature and animals and was overly generous in so many ways.
He is survived by his mother Bobbie Mardis, his sister, Martha Hodgden and husband Mike, his brothers James Mardis and wife Linda, and Robert Mardis, all of Enid; and Larry Mardis and wife Eliane, of Columbus, Ohio, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
