A Celebration of Lifeť service for Winema Brockman Marbut will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, with Rev. Doug McClure officiating.
Winema Marbut was born in Dunbar, OK on October 19, 1919, the daughter of Charles "C.D."ť and Grace (Boyd) Brockman. She was married to Joe Marbut. She was born, raised and lived in this area for most of her life and was a faithful, active member of the First Baptist Church. She and her husband, Joe owned and operated a restaurant in Hugo for many years. Winema was an active member of the Pierian Club, served on the Choctaw County Library Board during the construction of the new library facilities, was on the board of the Golden Age Home for many years and after retirement she volunteered her time with the Choctaw Memorial Hospital Auxillary.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joe Marbut; and her sister, Verna (Brockman) Stiefer.
Winema is survived by her niece Winema Copher (Gerald) of North Little Rock, AR, a nephew Charles Stiefer (Toni) of Durant, OK, four great nieces and nephews, Brian Copher (Melodie), Ginger Hill (Patrick), Jason Stiefer (Lisa), Paula Mora (Ivan).
The family has requested that donations be made in her memory to the First Baptist Church, The Choctaw County Library Board, or the Hospital Auxiliary.
