Jerry Lee Manuel

February 18, 1945 ~ June 9, 2021

Deacon Jerry Lee Manuel entered this life on February 18, 1945, the third child born to Lee and Bertha Manuel. Being the first son, he was affectionately known as "Brother" and after his other siblings arrived he was elevated to "Big Brother".

Jerry was born in Ran, where he received his formal education through Marietta High School where he was very active in sports. After graduating high school in 1963, Jerry relocated to Fort Worth, Texas.

In 1965, he took the esteemed oath of enlistment into the United States Armed Forces. Jerry excelled in Basic Training and became a Paratrooper with the 101st Airborne Division in the Vietnam War. While serving, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Vietnam Service Medal and a Parachutist Badge.

After his service, he found employment as a machinist until his retirement.

At an early age, Jerry confessed a saving hope in Jesus Christ and later joined Throne of Grace International Church where he served as Head Deacon until his health began to fail.

On Wednesday, June 9, 2021, Deacon Jerry Manuel answered the Master's call and peacefully transitioned from time into eternity. When he arrived in Heaven, he was greeted by his parents, Lee and Bertha Manuel; his siblings, Eula Green and Clinton Manuel; son, LaMarcus Penigar; and his grandson, Isaiah Dangerfield.

Those left to cherish his memories include his wife, Donna Manuel; sons, Jeffrey Kay, Kevin Manuel and Derrius Burks; daughters, Kay Davis (Terry), Jerri Manuel, Kilesa Kay, Kendra Manuel, Catrina Hill, Celeste Marshall, Demonica Burks and Jerreshia Williams (Jermaine); 37 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; brother, Patrick Manuel (Felicia); sisters, Willie Sanders, Joyce Harris, Naomi Lornes (Frank) and Euelene Smith; his church family; and a host of other relatives and friends.

This obituary included a photo of Mr. Manuel.
