Lonnie Mantzey passed away peacefully in his home on February 20, 2024, in Durant, Oklahoma, at the age of 68. He was born on March 1, 1955, in Modesto, California to Gus and Mary (Floyd) Mantzey. Lonnie's life was a testament to the values of courage, creativity, and the importance of family.
Lonnie proudly served his country as a member of the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, a period that shaped much of his character and instilled in him a sense of duty and resilience. After his military service, he returned to his hometown of Modesto, where he began a dedicated career as a bottle maker at Gallo Winery.
In 1985, Lonnie married the love of his life, Donna Rhoades, in Lebanon, Missouri. Lonnie was a man of many passions. He enjoyed the tranquility of gardening, as well as fishing, both providing him a connection to nature. Nothing brought Lonnie more joy than the time he spent with his beloved grandchildren. Each moment with them was cherished and filled with laughter, stories, and the creation of lasting memories.
Lonnie's legacy is carried on by his wife of 38 years, Donna Mantzey of Durant, Oklahoma, and his children including his daughters Melinda Mantzey, Kristen Mantzey, Corin Russell, Nikkie Duckett, and his son Blake Coffon. Lonnie’s brothers, Bill Mantzey, Alfred Mantzey, and David Walker will remember him for his unwavering support and the strong bonds of brotherhood they shared.
