Alton Thomas Mantooth

February 26, 1947 ~ June 29, 2019

Alton Thomas Mantooth age 72 of Purcell, passed away Saturday, June 29, 2019 in Norman. Alton was born Feb. 26, 1947 in Maysville, Oklahoma. He was the 4th of six children born to Hugh Ward Mantooth and Elsie (McDonald) Mantooth.

Alton grew up in Maysville and attended Maysville schools. He later joined the U. S. Navy and proudly served his country before he was honorable discharged due to an illness. Alton later married and raised one son, Alton Jr.

Alton worked most of his life in the oil field working for H & P Drilling Company. During his career he worked in 33 different countries and many different states across the U. S. After he retired he returned home and lived in the Purcell area.

Alton was preceded in death by:

Parents, Hugh and Elsie Mantooth.

He is survived by:

Son, A. T. Mantooth of Wayne.

His companion, Linda Wyatt of Purcell.

One brother, Haskell Mantooth and with Veta,

Four sisters, Lula Sanchez, Lois Beam, Barbara Hulsey and Naomi Thomas.

Three grandchildren, Braden Weeks and wife Drew of Stratford,

Maddox Mantooth and Dawson Mantooth both of Wayne.

Two great granddaughters, Holland and Harper.

Many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell.
