James Louis, Mangus, 81, of Tecumseh, Oklahoma passed away Wednesday, February 12, 2020 in Shawnee.
He was born November 19, 1938 to James and Martha (Ketner) Mangus in Tecumseh, Oklahoma.
James was raised in Tecumseh and attended Tecumseh Public Schools.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Cuban Missile Crisis and was honorably discharge.
James married Dovey E. King in 1956 in Seminole, Oklahoma.
He was a self-employed master craftsman’s working as a carpenter, homebuilder and cabinet builder.
James enjoyed fishing, playing domino’s, especially playing “Moon” with his siblings and his father, watching OU Football and his sons play sports. He was a very selfless and open hearted person who loved everyone he made contact with. James loved his family very much and enjoyed spending time with his kids, grandkids and his extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Martha Mangus; and brother, Charles Mangus.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 63 years, Dovey Mangus of the home; 4 sons, Dale and Kim Mangus of Mustang, OK, Jimmy Mangus and Larry Horton of Lewisville, TX, Arturo and Stacy Rosete of Yukon, OK, Gerardo and Kristin Rosete of Garfield, AR; 2 daughters, Barbara and Bryan Day of Tecumseh, OK and Isa and Omar Martinez of Mustang, OK; bonus kids who thought of him as mentor and father, Rosete Family of Mexico City; 11 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 7 sisters, Dorothy Newton of Tecumseh, OK, Cleta Farr of Shawnee, OK, Marcella Jones of Lake Havasu City, AZ, Dolores and Mark Browning of Spokane, WA, Helen and Roger Lam of Shawnee, OK, Ima Jo and Stanley Stapp of Tecumseh, OK and Nancy Tegtmeier of Kingston, OK; 1 brother, Virgil Lee and Jimmee Mangus of Wellston, OK; and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
Memorial Service will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at Life Church Shawnee Campus with Tami Hunter officiating under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
