Visitation for Colleen Mae Maltby will be held at Basham Funeral Care (3312 Niles St.) on Friday, January 9, 2004, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., and graveside services will be held at Greenlawn Cemetery (Rover Blvd.) on Saturday, January 10, 2004, at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Ken Armstrong will officiate.
Colleen Mae Maltby returned to the Lord and rejoined her husband, Charles and parents, Alva and Lennie Parkison on Wednesday, January 7, 2004. Even though Colleen battled multiple illnesses in the last ten years of her life you could always count on her sense of humor, courage and strength.
Born in Drumwright, Oklahoma, December 22, 1928, she lived most of her life in Bakersfield raising her children and grandchildren. During her life Colleen worked in food services at South High School for many years before taking a position with Bank of America where she eventually returned to South High School until her retirement.
Colleen leaves behind her sisters, Naomi Todd, Claudine and husband, Sandy Palham; brother, Jerry and wife, Sally Parkison; sisters-in-law, Roberta Maples and Charlene O'Conner; daughter, Donna and husband, Danny Trout; sons, Dennis and wife, Linda Maltby, Kenny and wife, Darla Maltby; grandchildren, Rence Beasley, Daniel Trout, Josh Trout, Amy Giusti, Mason Maltby, Morgan Cobbs, Moriah Enos, Kim Clairiday, Mark Ragnetti, Stacy Hess; 20 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; special friend, Charlie Matlock and staff and residents of Oakdale Heights.
Special thanks to Selena Sherman from Optimal Hospice and Dr. John E. Byfield who were a great comfort and gave Colleen and her family strength during this difficult time.
