Robert H. Malone passed away peacefully in his home on August 8, 2017 after a hard fought battle with Parkinson's Disease, he was 83.
Bob is survived by his loving wife Carole, his two daughters Kimberly Clarke and Kelly Malone and their husbands. Bob was blessed with three wonderful grand children and two great grand children.
In aviation there are pilots that fly to live and those like Bob that "live to fly". Bob started his aviation career in 1955 with the U.S. Air Force, then three years at US Steel, and then on as Captan at American Airlines for 30 years. Bob's passion for aviation called him to serve his fellow pilot group in numerous capacities, principally the Allied Pilots Association. Serving three years as Vice President and six years as President. He was the Dallas/Fort Worth Domicile Chairman, and served on the Negotiating and Professional Standards Committees. His service continued after retirement as President of the Grey Eagles. As we all would like to be "well rounded", Bob managed that as well. Water and snow skiing with family and friends. A brutal game of tennis, 18 holes of golf that would lighten your wallet, and a true craftsman at woodworking.
Henry Drummond wrote; "Unless a man undertakes more than he possibly can do, he will never do all that he can". Bob truly undertook more than one man could. His contributions to aviation reached past American Airlines when he became Chairman of the International Flight Safety Foundation.
Bob is and will be sadly missed by family, friends, and an industry he loved. Most of all, Bob will miss rising towards the heavens on silver wings.
