Carol Jean (Grantham) Mallory

Carol Jean (Grantham) Mallory
June 16, 1956 ~ August 5, 2022

Carol Jean (Grantham) Mallory, a loving wife and mother, took her final breath on this earthly plane and finally lost her four-year-long battle with cancer on Friday, August 5, 2022, at age 66. Born to Alva Arvilla and Rosa Lew Grantham in Pryor, Oklahoma, Carol grew up in a household that valued hard work, a commitment to service, and a love for animals. After graduating from Cleveland High School in 1974, Carol received an associate degree from Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College in Miami, Oklahoma.

On June 18, 1976, Carol married her high school sweetheart, Ronald Stottlemyre Mallory, in a ceremony at Cleveland First United Methodist Church.

Long-time residents of Blackburn, Oklahoma, Carol and Ronny raised their two daughters, Michelle Rose and Christina Mallory Chicoraske. She was active in the Blackburn United Methodist Church and Cleveland Campfire Boys and Girls Clubs until after both daughters graduated from Cleveland High School.

If Carol and Ronny weren’t on their cattle ranch in Blackburn, they could be found taking their RV on the scenic highways and byways in our region – spending a lot of time in their favorite spot: Branson, Missouri. Carol’s lifelong love of animals meant she always had a rescue dog, or two, or seven keeping her company on the ranch. She was also an avid supporter of local dog rescues, Forgotten Oklahoma, and a fierce supporter of our men and women in military service.

The last four years have been a tough fight against her terminal cancer and would not have been possible without the care of the doctors, nurses, and staff at Stillwater Cancer Center, along with fierce family and friends – Willie Sanders and Rosetta Hepple, that helped step in when needed.

Carol is survived by her husband, Ronny, two daughters, Michelle and Christina, and son-in-law Timothy Chicoraske. Carol’s in-laws Louise and Bill Stottlemyre, brothers and sisters-in-law Denny and Janise Stottlemyre, and Willie and Bill Sanders.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 13, at Blackburn United Methodist Church.
