Anna Mary Maker passed away on March 6, 2020, just five days after her 86th birthday. Anna Mary, daughter of Faburn William, Sr. and Hazel Charlotte (Rich) Johnson was born on March 1, 1934 in Anna, Texas.
Anna Mary married Linden Maker, Sr. on May 22, 1952 and had five children. She spent many years as a homemaker while raising her children. Anna Mary also held various positions in the Guthrie area over the years, including being the proud manager of a small loan office. She also was a cub scout leader and taught GA’s.
Anna Mary, Mary, Momma, Mother, Grandmother and Grammers, no matter what you called her, was loved by so many. Anna Mary had a smile that could light up the world. She had a sharp wit and an amazing sense of humor. She loved spending time with her family and telling stories. No one made Christmas candy better than she did. She loved to bake. Her banana nut bread and angel food cake were always the best treats she loved to share. Her love of gardening showed every spring when the world was graced with beautiful hues of colors from irises, roses, lilacs, and a host of other flowers. Anna Mary was also a talented seamstress, often sewing clothes, hemming and mending for her family and friends.
Anna Mary was preceded in death by her parents and her two sisters, Florene Miller and Betty Jean Hawkins.
She is survived by her five children, Susan Louthan and husband Dennis of Chester; Sandy Channel and husband Gary of Mulhall; Linden Maker, Jr. and wife Rhonda of Buffalo, WY; Ted Maker and wife Janet of Guthrie; Betsy Ball and husband Josh of Guthrie; two brothers, FW Johnson and wife Sara Lee of Green Valley, AZ; Jerry Wayne Johnson of the Philippines; 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Memorial services to celebrate her life will be held at 1:30 P.M., Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at First Christian Church with Pastor Ronnie Fields officiating. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.
There will be no visitation.
