Terry Taylor Mains, of Durant, passed away peacefully at his home on September 8, 2025, at the age of 65. He was born on December 26, 1959, in Marshall, Michigan, to Stanley John and Maxine Elizabeth (Taylor) Mains. Terry married Paula Hoekwater on March 12, 1999, in Jackson, Michigan, beginning a life of commitment to each other and a devotion to family.
Terry was a farmer and rancher and faithfully tended to his land and animals. He will be remembered for his love of fantasy football, and the friendly competition it sparked with those he played along with. Terry was an avid hunter, enjoying the outdoors and the thrill of the hunt. However, he will forever be remembered for his love of his family and the joy he had when spending time with them.
His presence will be missed in the lives of those he leaves behind, including his loving wife Paula Mains of Durant, Oklahoma, his adored children, including son Michael Mains and wife Shannon of Nashville, Tennessee, and his daughter Andrea Weir and husband Matthew of Durant, as well as his beloved grandsons Gabriel Weir, Gideon Weir, Gunnar Weir, and Griffen Weir, all of Durant.
Terry is also survived by his siblings, Beverly Boehmer and husband Carl of Grass Lake, Michigan, Linda Hoskins and husband J.R. of Bronson, Michigan, Charles Mains of Marshall, Michigan, Barbara Church and husband Dan of Coldwater, Michigan, Elizabeth Yeakey and husband John also of Coldwater, and Angela Mains of Bronson, Michigan.
He also leaves behind his in-laws Dianne Farr and husband Dale of Falmouth, Michigan, Barb Dore and husband Pat of Marion, Michigan, Rob Hoekwater and wife Angela of McBain, Michigan, Marcia Hoekwater also of McBain, and Timothy Hoekwater and wife Tammy of Marion, Michigan.
Preceding him in death are his parents Stanley and Maxine Mains, his in-laws Wilfred and Grace Hoekwater, sister-in-law Debbie Mains, and sister-in-law Brenda VanHouten.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in his home state of Michigan.
