James L. Maggard was born December 8, 1947 in Watonga, Oklahoma to Maxine and Lane Lester Maggard. He passed away March 21, 2017 at his home in Cheyenne, Oklahoma at the age of 69 years, 3 months and 13 days.
James grew up in the Colony, Oklahoma community where he graduated from high school. He later moved to Cheyenne, Oklahoma where he met Hazel White and they spent a wonderful 33 years together. James worked for a time in the oilfield before going to work as a Mechanic for Roger Mills County and retired after 28 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Raymond Maggard.
He is survived by his wife, Hazel, of the home; 5 children, Jimmy Dale
Maggard of Tulsa, OK, Holly Cavanaugh and husband, Doug, of Hydro, OK, Roy
White of Weatherford, OK, Barbara Burger and husband, Harold, of Union City,
OK, Linda McBrayer and husband, Gene, of Hydro, OK; 10 grandchildren, 15
great grandchildren, 2 brothers, Earl Maggard of Alva, OK and Quinton
Maggard of Eakly, OK; 2 sisters, Elaine Helt of Eakly, OK and Mary; as well
as a host of other relatives and friends.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
