Longtime Enid resident Patrick J. Magee, 79, died Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2016, in Milford, N.H. He made the transition peacefully in his home, surrounded by his family, following a period of ill health.
Pat was born Feb. 14, 1936, to H.E. and Anne (Waite) Magee in Minneapolis, Minn., where he spent his childhood. He completed training at the Minneapolis School of Anesthesia in 1960, at which time he relocated to Enid, and took a position as an anesthetist at St. Mary's Hospital.
He married Sandra (Babb) in December 1961 and shortly thereafter served two years in the United States Army, being stationed in El Paso, Texas, where he provided anesthesia services at the William Beaumont Army Medical Center.
Following completion of his military service, Pat returned to Enid and St. Mary�s Hospital, where he provided anesthesia for the next 30 years. A devout man of faith, Pat was an original parishioner of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, and was instrumental in its founding.
He relocated to St. Johnsbury, Vt., in 1991, where he continued to practice anesthesia until his retirement in 2007. In April of 2006, he married Mary Ann (Carmichael), and spent his later years traveling and relaxing at his home in Milford, N.H.
Pat is survived by two sons, Michael Magee and his wife, Cindy, of Bedford, N.H., Brian Magee and his wife, Debbie, of Springdale, Ark., a daughter, Heather Pfriem of Bixby, Okla., and a daughter-in-law, Erin Magee of Nashua, N.H. In addition, he is survived by eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Dennis.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in N.H., and following cremation, interment will take place in the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial donations on Pat�s behalf may be made to the American Heart Association.
