Mark Wayne Maddox
January 22, 1943 ~ March 12, 2019

Mark Wayne Maddox died on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at his residence in Tulsa, OK after a short illness.

Mark was born in Enid, OK on January 22, 1943 to parents Frances and Chester (Chet) Maddox, who both preceded him in death. He attended public school in Enid and graduated from Enid High School in 1961.

As an athlete, he lettered all three years of high school in football, baseball, and basketball and in 1960 the team won the Oklahoma State Basketball Championship. After high school, Mark went on to the University of Tulsa on a football scholarship, was a starter as a tight end, and was coached by Glenn Dobbs. The team played in two Bluebonnet Bowls in Houston, one in 1964, defeating the University of Mississippi and again in 1965, losing to the University of Tennessee.

After graduation, Mark worked for the City of Tulsa Recreation Department at Reed Recreation Center. He later was an insurance adjuster for Oklahoma Farm Bureau and then moved on to work for two foundation stabilization companies, PermaBilt, and PermaJack, respectively.

Mark was a kind, giving, and precious father and grandfather, and was a loyal friend to many. He is survived by his son Greg Maddox, son Eric and his wife Heather Maddox and their children, his brother James (Jim) Maddox and his wife Jan and their children, Michael (Mike) Maddox and his wife Bonnie and Jennifer O'Leary and husband, Tom.

A memorial service will be held to honor Mark and celebrate his life on Saturday, March 23rd at 10 A.M. at the First Christian Church in Sapulpa, OK with the reverend Tim Dotson officiating. Arrangements are being made by Smith Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity in Mark's memory.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on 2019-03-23 at First Christian Church, 220 East Lee Avenue, Sapulpa, OK, USA.
