Ganelle (Johnston) Madden

Ganelle (Johnston) Madden
Sep 22, 1939 ~ Dec 1, 2013

Celebration Services for Ganelle Madden were held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 4, 2013, at Goldsby Baptist Church. Mrs. Madden went home to be with Jesus Sunday, December 1, 2013 after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. Although her days after her diagnosis were few, they were filled with the love of her numerous family and friends.

Ganelle was born on September 22, 1939 in Brownfield, TX. She was the fourth of five children born to Lonnie and Minnie Johnston. She grew up in Plains, TX and attended school there. It was there she met and married the love of her life. She and her husband Steve Madden were married for 58 1/2 years and together raised 5 children: daughters Debbie and Katherine, and sons David, Mark and Daniel.

Steve and Ganelle have lived in the Washington Community since 1972. After her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, Ganelle cherished her family, and she was active in both her children’s and grandchildren’s school activities and athletic events. She was a member of the Goldsby Baptist Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir. Music was a big part of Ganelle’s life. She looked forward to her family gatherings around the piano, playing instruments and singing. She played piano and often sang in church, and she entered heaven with all her children and grandchildren gathered around her singing her favorite hymns. Ganelle was a talented seamstress and she sewed everything for her family, including wedding dresses, Christmas gifts, and, as her final gift, she presented each of her children with a handmade quilt on Thanksgiving Day. For the past 37 years, Ganelle has worked at Marcum’s Nursery. She loved her job and considered her work a joy. Ganelle will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by: Her parents, Lonnie and Minnie Johnston, 2 sisters, Colene Adkins and Kreahible Behunnin, and one grandson, Robert Steven Madden.

Ganelle leaves behind: Her husband, Steve of the home; Her daughters, Debbie Brown and husband Lorin and Katherine Persinger and husband Tim, Her sons, David Madden, Mark Madden and wife Shelley, and Daniel Madden and wife Lecretia, 2 brothers, L.B.
