Joe Edley Lucas

Joe Edley Lucas

Joe Edley Lucas, 80, of Bartlesville, joined his beloved wife, Molly, in heaven on Thursday, July 10, 2025.

Joe was born May 15, 1945, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, to Carl Brayton and Jane Edley Lucas of Wann, Oklahoma. The family later moved to Copan, where Joe graduated from high school. During his high school years, he was active in 4-H, earning awards and scholarships in automotive and showing animals he had raised.

After a couple of years of college he joined the Air Force in September of 1966. He had his Basic Training at Lackland AFB in San Antonio and his technical training at Shepherd AFB in Wichita Falls. He was first stationed at Luke AFB in Glendale, Arizona. He left for Vietnam on Thanksgiving 1968 and was a member of the 3rd Tactical Fighter Wing, 3rd Engineering Squadron, where he maintained and operated electrical generators and aircraft arresting systems. While in Vietnam, Joe was stationed at Bien Hoa, which was the most heavily rocket attacked base in the country. After a year in Vietnam, he was assigned to Matagorda Island bombing range. Joe was honorably discharged in September 1972 at the rank of Sergeant.

Joe worked as a Field Service Technician and instructor for Reda Pump, Centralift and B.P. around the United States and traveled around the world.

Joe married Marilyn (Molly) Deason on December 20, 1980. They lived in Bartlesville until her passing on November 3, 2021.

Joe is survived by Jim Lucas and wife Lisa of Melissa, Texas, Ben Lucas and wife Shari of Weatherford, Texas, and Melanie Lucas of Nowata, Oklahoma, along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl B. and Jane Lucas; wife, Marilyn (Molly) Lucas; brothers, Scott Lucas and William Carl Lucas; and son, William Eric (Billy) Lucas.

The family would like to thank Medicalodges in Independence, Kansas, and Gentiva Hospice for their care of Joe in the last few years.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 18, 2025, at Davis Family Funeral Home – Dewey Chapel, 113 S. Osage Ave., Dewey, OK 74029, 918-534-3030.
