Mr. William (Bill) Paul Lubensky, 81, of Bartlesville, went to be with his God on September 21, 2016 after a long illness.
Visitation will be held at the Stumpff Funeral Home on Sunday from 9 A.M. until 5 P.M. and on Monday from 9 A.M. until 8 P.M.
A Rosary will be held at 7 P.M. on Monday, September 26, 2016 in the Stumpff Funeral Home Chapel and the Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at the St. James Catholic Church. After the service he will be given full military rites by James H. Teel American Legion Post # 105 Honor Guard which he was a member for many years.
He was born in Marshall, Missouri on May 12, 1935 and was the seventh of eight children of Paul H. and Dora E. Lubensky. He attended Mercy Academy and graduated from Marshall High School in 1953.
He was then drafted into the Army in November of 1954 and served two years in an anti-aircraft outfit. Then spent six more years in the active reserves where he reached the rank of Sergeant First Class.
He was married to Carol Francis Joliff on August 29, 1959.
He graduated from Missouri Valley College and while in college was one of the people that helped start the local college radio station WMVC.
He went to work for Phillips Petroleum Company in 1961 in the regional accounting office in Kansas City, MO and later transferred to the credit card center and in 1970 was transferred to Bartlesville, OK. He retired from Phillips after 34 years in 1995. At the time of retirement was manager of office services in the credit card center.
During his entire working career, he was also a projectionist in theatres in Marshall, Kansas City and in Bartlesville. While running projectors in Kansas City, the idea of multiplex theatres started. He was working with that theatre chain at that time and has the honor of being the first person to ever run a movie to the public in a multiplex theatre.
He was involved with the Boy Scouts as a treasure of Troop 5 and 102, and of Explorer Post 150. He was also the advisor of Explorer Post 135. While involved with the scouts was in the Brotherhood of the Order of the Arrow and was awarded the Scout's President's award on two occasions in 1979 and 1984.
He served as both president and vice president of the parish council at St. James Catholic Church. He was also in charge of maintenance of the church from 1971 until 2015. Along with involvement with the church, served on the board of directors for Family Crisis and Counseling Center. Mr. Lubensky also handled the maintenance for FCC for a number of years. He served on the board of directors for Kiddie Park in Bartlesville. He was also involved with Concern, Community Action, Mary Martha Outreach, and delivered Meals-on-Wheels for several years, all in Bartlesville. He was a member of the American Legion Post 105 and a member of the Honor Guard squad. He also was a member of Clowns of America International, and was president, vice president and treasurer of his local clown group, the Fun Addicts Alley # 188. He performed as a clown under the name of "Mr. Bill". In his spare time he liked photography, wood working, and for vacations he loved to go on cruises. At last count he had been on 12 different cruises.
Mr. Lubensky is survived by his two children, Michael Charles and wife Angie of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and Deborah Kathleen Miller and husband Art of St. Louis, Mo., six grandchildren, Charles Lubensky of Oklahoma City, OK., Philip Lubensky, Caitlin Taylor and Tim Lubensky all of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Jessica and Brian Miller of St. Louis, MO., four great grandchildren, Maggie A and Macy Taylor and Cadence Lubensky all of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Judah A. Lubensky of Oklahoma City, OK., and a brother, Daniel James Lubensky of Sarona, WI., and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Carol, his parents, one brother, Ralph, five sisters, Ruby Bardon, Edna Berry, Helen Blackburn, Annabell Bell, and Mildred Lubensky, one grandson, Nicholas Lubensky and a sister-in-law, Ruth Ann Karduck.
