Durant, OK- Lawanda Loyd (Mitchell) was born Saturday, April 10, 1954 in Durant, Oklahoma to Rex Mitchell and Lawanda Box (Knipe). She passed from this life to her Eternal home on Thursday, May 11th, 2023 in Durant at the age of 69.
Skeeter, as she was known by everyone, grew up and attended school in Blue. She worked at the high school cafeteria and was a waitress at the Waffle Shoppe for twenty-five years until she had to retire because of health issues. Skeeter enjoyed coloring, camping, reading, traveling to the mountains, listening to country music, and going to Cancun. Her love was being with her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids.
Skeeter was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Deyonna Arnold; infant brother, Rex Mitchell; grandson, Chris Black; great-grandson, Kayson Black; and brother-in-law, Troy Glover.
She is survived by her son, Tracy Glover and his wife, Rhonda of Calera, OK; daughters, Margie Brown and her husband, Billy of Durant, OK, and Micki Bomsburger and her husband, Glen of Calera, OK; sister, Diane Glover of Colbert, OK; brother, Elmer Mitchell and his wife, Judy of Bokchito, OK; sister, Melissa Mitchell of Durant, OK; and numerous grandkids and great-grandkids.
A Celebration of Life services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 20th, in Brown’s Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Jesse Ferrell officiating.
The family has requested to please wear green if you will be attending the services.
