Billy Jade Cox Lowry

Billy Jade Cox Lowry
Apr 18, 1987 ~ Oct 24, 2013

Billy Jade Cox Lowry, 26 year old Woodward resident, died Thursday, October 24, 2013 south of Ft. Supply as a result of a automobile accident. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 4, 2013 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel with Bobby Gainer officiating. A private family burial will be held at a later date.

Billy Jade Cox Lowry was born on April 18, 1987 in Weatherford, Oklahoma to Bill Don Cox and Tammy Angela (Scurlock) Lowry. Billy’s youngest years were spent growing up in Longdale and attending school at Canton Grade School. In 1996, Tammy and Billy and his brother Chris, moved to Woodward where Billy spent the rest of his years.

Billy, Katie, and Aires made their home at the Kansas Street Apartments. Billy had a love/hate relationship with work! He loved getting paid but didn’t necessarily love being employed! Billy had numerous jobs from fast food to lawn service to the oil field. He chose the oil field as his career and worked for OTI, Summit and Bear Claw, the company he was working for at the time of his passing. He was good at what he did and worked hard while on the clock. Billy made a good hand, many would tell you so.

Given half a chance, Billy would tinker on any motorized thing. This love was passed on to him by his father. When the two were together you could bet they were working in the shop mostly with Bill’s hot rods. He learned everything from his dad from body work to mechanics. From the earliest years Billy was also riding motorcycles. He was tucked into Bill’s leather jacket and zipped in before he could walk and by the age of three, he could ride his own. He was also helping pass this love on to his nephews. The last time he saw Harley and Dodge, Billy had them riding a little cycle with him. Billy was so proud of them.

Billy truly did live like today might be his last. He was very spontaneous, taking each moment and living it to the fullest. He enjoyed fishing and the outdoors, drawing hot rods (she was a talented artist), hanging out with friends and family and he also loved his tattoos. Picking on people was one of his favorite things to do. Don’t let him catch you off guard or you would be sorry. He was a master at practical jokes. If you knew Billy at all you should be able to picture him throwing his head back and laughing hysterically at you because he was making you mad but you also knew he was just playing so you couldn’t do anything to him.

One of his favorite people to pick on was his Mother and he would relentlessly. Even so, Tammy and Billy had a special bond. He needed and depended on her for many things but they also talked to each other unlike most parents talk to their children. They were very close friends. Hanging out, laughing, talking, and watching tv together were all things they enjoyed doing.

He loved the babies in his life, from his own to his nephews, to his friend’s kids. Billy had lots of love and attention to give them plus they didn’t punch as hard as the adults on which he played jokes!! He was Uncle Bully because he loved teasing his nephews. He was #1 Dad because sometimes only he could get Aries to quit crying. Grady was his pride and joy and he talked about him often. He was a great babysitter, your kids might not be clean or put to bed on time but they were having a blast with him.

Billy passed from this life on October 24, 2013 around 9:30 p.m. in a fatal car accident that resulted in his death and also took the lives of his girlfriend Katie Peeples who was pregnant with their second child and Aries Jade Lowry their six month old daughter. Billy was preceded in death by his dad, Bill Don Cox and his grandpa James Scurlock. He leaves behind his two year old son, Grady Don Lowry Smith; his brother, Christopher Lowry and wife Vanessa and their two children, Harley and Dodge Lowry; his sister Dawn Phillips and husband Troy and their family who live in Colorado; grandma Mary Hudson of Inglis, Florida; his Aunt Mary Ann and her husband Roger Crossman and their five children and their five grandchildren; many other relatives and a host of friends.
