Troy Lee Lovelady

Troy Lee Lovelady
January 13, 1952 ~ December 6, 2024

Troy Lee Lovelady was born on January 13, 1952, in Littlefield, Texas, to Johnnie Louis and Mary Louise (Davis) Lovelady. He peacefully departed this life at home, surrounded by his loving family, on December 6, 2024, at the age of 72 years, 10 months, and 24 days.

Troy's early years were spent in Oregon, California, and Texas as his family traveled for his father’s work. On September 26, 1969, in Neosho, Missouri, he married the love of his life, Dorothy Elaine Green/Bilby. Their devoted union lasted over 55 years.

Troy served his country with pride in the United States Army from January 1973 to September 1979. During his service, he worked as a helicopter repairman and crew chief, earning the National Defense, Good Conduct, and Armed Forces Expeditionary Medals. He was stationed in Germany and Korea serving during the Vietnam War.

A man of remarkable skill and dedication, Troy was a hardworking provider. He held numerous jobs throughout his life, excelling in industrial maintenance, electrical, and hydraulic machinery. His expertise and patient teaching spirit left a lasting impact on many. Troy worked for ParFab, Express Welding, Red Devil, and alongside his son, Ronnie, in construction. There was nothing Troy couldn’t repair or improve.

In 1981, Troy and Dorothy settled in Locust Grove, Oklahoma, where he enjoyed a fulfilling life. He cherished his miniature schnauzer, Callie, and loved fishing and relaxing on his pontoon boat. An accomplished woodworker, Troy created countless handmade treasures, including bowls, lamps, cutting boards, ink pens, and furniture. Above all, Troy treasured his family, proudly watching his grandchildren's activities and spending time with those he loved.

Troy is survived by: his devoted wife, Dorothy, of the home; 2 children: Ronald “Ronnie” Lovelady and wife Nancy of Locust Grove, Oklahoma, and Angela Schmoll and husband Kevin of Salina, Oklahoma; 4 grandchildren: Josh Schmoll and Louise of Rose, Oklahoma, Sean Lovelady and Marissa of Locust Grove, Oklahoma, Chelsie Schmoll of Locust Grove, Oklahoma, and Ashley Sappington and husband Colton of Miami, Oklahoma; 10 great-grandchildren: Audrina, Braxton, Aubree, Serenity, Macie, Felicity, Aiden, Brayden, Amia, and one addition on the way. 4 sisters: Doni Jones of Hillsboro, Oregon, Eula Gay and husband Reecie Gay of Lexington, Oklahoma, Alberta Sievert and husband Jerry of Hillsboro, Oregon, and Peggy Miller of Soper, Oklahoma; 1 Brother: Richard Lovelady and wife Mary Ann of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; a special niece: Angela Rapp, of Longview, Washington; and his best friend: Allen Simpson; and many cherished nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends.

Troy was preceded in death by his parents: Johnnie and Mary Lovelady; four brothers: Porter Buchanan, Joe Dale Buchanan, Johnnie Louis Lovelady, and Walter Lovelady; and three sisters, Katrina Huffman, Mary Chapman, and Irma Montgomery.

A visitation to commemorate Troy’s life will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2024, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, 315 North Broadway, in Locust Grove. Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Locust Grove Funeral Home. Friends are invited to share their memories and condolences at
