Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 15, 2024 at the First Baptist Church of Mooreland, Oklahoma with Reverend Brian Spade officiating. Joan Adelea (Parsons) Loomis was born on July 31, 1937 in Woodward, Oklahoma to Clifford Eugene and Mabel Adaline (Reed) Parsons. Joan grew up on her family's farm southwest of Freedom and attended the one room country school at Ellendale. Joan graduated from Freedom High School in 1955. She was united in marriage to Delbert Loomis on December 1, 1956 at the Haskew Baptist Church in Haskew, Oklahoma. They were blessed with four children: Lynn, Linda, Lesa, and Leslie. Delbert and Joan made their first home in Woodward before moving to Lower Brule, South Dakota in 1960. They moved back to Mooreland in 1964. In 1984 they relocated to Blunt, South Dakota, returning once again to Mooreland in 2002.

Joan worked various positions through the years. After graduation, she worked at the Agriculture Stabalization and Conservation office in Woodward. When living in South Dakota she handled the daily ranch and farm accounting duties. Joan worked at the Woodward Livestock Auction, and in insurance with Russell Gale and then at the Security State Bank of Mooreland. On the family farm in Oklahoma, she was essential during the planting and harvesting seasons. After retiring from her many jobs, she worked with Delbert to build their current home. She enjoyed sewing, reading and loved being with her family and going to church.

Joan was saved at Haskew Baptist Church and baptized in her Uncle Johnny Reed's nearby farm pond. Joan and Delbert were faithful members of First Baptist Church in Mooreland. They raised their children in the church and emphasized the importance of school. Joan worked in the nursery, served in the kitchen for Team Kids, and fulfilled the office of church treasurer. While living in Blunt, South Dakota, they were dedicated members of Calvary Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband of almost 68 years, Delbert Loomis of the home; two sons: Lynn Loomis and wife Sandi, Leslie Loomis and wife Tammy; two daughters: Linda Jackson and husband Jeff, Lesa Mitchell and husband Jon; grandchildren: Talon Harper-Korsegi, Tevin Harper, Taydon Harper, Jacob Jackson, Jordan Jackson, Staci Kahoe, Cristi Winn, Valorie McEntire, and Trevor Willingham; great-grandchildren: Sterling Harper, Huxlynn Jackson, Halstyn Jackson and Hendersyn Jackson; other relatives and many friends.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Mabel Parsons, her brother Gene Parsons, and son-in-law, Terry Harper.
