Hubert Loomis, 70 year old Mooreland resident died Wednesday, January 1, 2014 in Mooreland. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, January 10, 2014 in the Mooreland First Baptist Church with Reverend David Houchin officiating. Interment will be held at a later date with the Billings Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Hubert Dean Loomis was born on June 20, 1943 in Nash, Oklahoma to Herbert Hadley and Erma Lucille (Campbell) Loomis.

Hubert was reared in Woodward and attended Woodward Public Schools.

On December 6, 1960 he was inducted into the United States Navy and was Honorably Discharged on March 20, 1964. While serving in the Navy Hubert was united in marriage to Lorraine Murray they made their home in Pennsylvania where Hubert was stationed.

Hubert returned to Oklahoma and was united in marriage to Johnie Mae Childers on August 16, 1967 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma, where they made their home. Hubert and his family returned to the Woodward area in 1980 and have remained here since. Hubert worked as a Long Haul Trucker throughout his working career driving for various companies.

In 1994 he retired due to his failing health. Hubert loved his family and loved to spend time with his children and especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed woodworking, and drinking coffee at the truck stop talking about trucking and his grandchildren.

Hubert is survived by his five daughters, Melanie Gordon and husband Bob of Port Orchard, WA; Johnie Loomis and husband Willie Dumas; Lucy Evans and husband Leroy all of Mooreland; Mary Bowen of Enid; and Tammie Rose and husband Travis of Del City; ten grandchildren, Amber, Taylor, Bryce, Bryanna, Hannah, Chance, Sonja, Aunalicia, Serenity, and Ellen; one great-grandchild on the way; sister, Wilberta Brown of Alva; several other family members and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and two brothers.
