Carol Ann (Osborn) Longton

April 30, 1939 ~ December 18, 2018

Carol Ann Longton, 79, died December 18, 2018, at Trinity Manor in Dodge City, Kansas. She was born April 30, 1939, in Little River, the daughter of Seth Payne and Edna Sue (Greenback) Osborn.

As an infant, Carol moved to Fort Dodge with her family and later to Dodge City, Kansas. Carol graduated from Dodge City High School in 1957. She went on to further her education at Cottey College in Nevada, Missouri, graduating with an Associate's Degree in 1959.

November 6, 1960, she was united in marriage to Jerry Longton in Dodge City. He preceded her in death on April 4, 2010.

Carol was a daycare provider for many years. She was also a farm wife, helping Jerry with the family farm. Carol always felt her main purpose in life was to be a wife, mother, and grandmother, which she did with love. Her family and her church were very important to her.

Carol was a dedicated prayer warrior, praying for her family and church family faithfully. She was also a long-time American Red Cross blood donor, donating many gallons over her lifetime.

She was a member of the New Creation Christian Church of Dodge City.

Carol is survived by four daughters, Deborah Longton, Barbara Norton and husband Kevin, and Jan Longton all of Dodge City, and Beverly Weber and husband Rick of Waukomis; a brother, Chester Osborn of Dallas, Texas; five grandchildren, Eric Norton of Los Angeles, California; Zach Norton of Manhattan, Kansas; Shelby, Reid, and Rhett Weber all of Waukomis; and a great-grandson, Wyatt Byrd of Enid.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jerry; and a sister, Evelyn Kessinger.

Funeral service is 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 22, 2018, at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Dodge City, Kansas, with Mr. Randy Weece and Mr. Larry Williams presiding. Burial follows at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City, Kansas.

Visitation is noon-8:00 p.m. Friday, December 21, 2018, at Swaim Funeral Chapel, with the family receiving friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday evening.

Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Prairie, in care of Swaim Funeral Home, 1901 6th Avenue, Dodge City, KS 67801.
