Harley Clay Longan

June 7, 1918 ~ June 4, 2002

CLARENDON - Harley Clay Longan, 83, died Tuesday, June 4, 2002.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Citizens Cemetery with the Rev. Charlie Floyd, pastor of Texola Baptist Church in Texola, officiating. Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors.

Mr. Longan was born June 7, 1918, in Clarendon and had been a resident of Donley County since 1946, returning here from Dallas. He married Vera Lorelle "Bobbie" Watt on March 21, 1944, in Donley County.

He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He had been a rancher most of his life before his retirement. He was a Baptist.

Pallbearers include Will Chamberlain, Jay Stone, Joe Robinson, Douglas Shelton, Jiggs Mann and Ted Shaller.

He was preceded in death by his wife on May 21, 1986.

Survivors include four sons, Ron Longan of Howardwick, Phil Longan of Lubbock, Larry Longan of Morris, Okla., and Jake Longan of Justin; nine grandchildren, Kyndle Boyd of Throckmorton, Angie Longan of Fort Worth, Robbie Longan and Penney Longan, both of South Fork, Colo., Mandy Longan of Lubbock, Skeeter Longan and Matt Longan, both of Morris, Okla., and Chris Longan and Linsey Longan, both of Justin; and two great-grandchildren, Parker Boyd and Stormy Longan.
