Kenneth Ray Long

Kenneth Ray Long, 76, of Hobbs, passed away Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at his residence.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, December 18, 2010 at Griffin Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Richard Rust officiating.

Mr. Long was born on November 27, 1934 in Milton, Oklahoma to Barney A. and Virtie Bowen Long. He was a United States Air Force veteran serving in Korea. Mr. Long married Betty Rust on December 21, 1958 in Panama, Oklahoma and they celebrated almost 52 wonderful years together. He loved working in his yard, gardening, reading and listening to gospel music. Mr. Long retired from teaching school in Lovington in 1985.

He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and four sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Long, of the home, daughters, Rebecca Long and her husband, Steve Matlock of Hobbs and Deborah Long of Hobbs, sons, Bret Long and his wife, Jill of Washington, Utah; brother, Leon Long of Sallisaw, Oklahoma, his grandchildren, Lauren King and Bryce Long, and one great grandchild, Rowan King.
