Kathiann “Kathi” (Cox) Long

Kathiann “Kathi” (Cox) Long
August 10,1949 ~ September 23, 2024

Kathiann “Kathi” (Cox) Long, 75, passed peacefully from this life into the loving arms of our Lord, surrounded by her family on September 23, 2024, after a stroke. The Memorial services celebrating and honoring her life will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday October 12, 2024, in the Waukomis Christian Church with Pastor David Jones officiating. Complete cremation care and services are under the direction of Brown-Cummings, A life celebration home.

Kathi was born on August 10,1949 in Enid to William and Dorothy (Walker) Cox. She had seven siblings and was raised in the Waukomis area. She graduated from Pioneer High School.

Kathi was a kind, genuine, and loving soul. There was no one like her. She brought joy to all who knew her. She was an active member of Waukomis Christian Church and served on the church board. She loved music – especially The Beatles, watching movies, her cats, and spending time with friends and family (especially the babies).

Kathi was a compassionate caregiver, living alongside and taking care of her mother until she passed away at the age of 93 in 2004.

Kathi was able to put her hobbies of knitting and needlepoint to work at Willow’s Tree, where she worked until they closed. At 40, Kathi pursued a dream and moved to Hawaii where she enjoyed the islands before returning to Enid. Upon her return, Kathi began her career at Dillard’s, where she met her future husband, Stuart Long. In 1995, she married Stuart and gained three stepdaughters. They shared 25 years together before Stuart passed away in 2021.

After 23 years with the company, Kathi retired from Dillard’s where she met many of her best friends. Upon her retirement, Kathi lived a fulfilled life. She volunteered two days per week at Loaves and Fishes, enjoyed yoga and other classes at the Enid Public Library, volunteered with Friends of the Library, and traveled with friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Dorothy Cox; husband, Stuart Long; brothers Dennis and William “Bill” Cox; sisters Billie Marie (Bob) Roades and Dorothy Lee Riggle; step grandsons Cody and Garret Hamm.

She is survived by her sister Colleen Thomason; brothers Darrell Cox and Greg (Patti) Cox; sister-in-law Marie Cox; stepdaughters Traci Hamm, Kristi Long, and Jamie James; step grandchildren Dylan Hamm, Mason (Mandi) Peck, Devin Peck, Alexandra Peck, Nikki James, Michael (Missy) James, Brandon Long; great grandchildren Kenzie James and Aria Peck; adoring nieces and nephews Vickie Roades, Robert Roades, Cynthia (Andy) Gill, Dan Cox, David Riggle, Damon Riggle, Dana (Steve) Shaft, Tom (Helen) Thomason, Terri (Towne) Walston, Melissa (Matt) Callaway, Tina (Brad) McLerran, Randy Fluman, Chad (Cindy) Cox, Misty Cox, Jennifer Pearson, Daria Bathgate, Kinsey (Ben) Crocker, and Logan (Paige) Cox.

Memorials may be made in Kathiann’s memory to Loaves and Fishes in Enid or Waukomis Christian Church with Brown-Cummings serving as custodian of the funds.
