June Long, a dedicated servant of her Lord Jesus Christ, arrived in the arms of her Savior on Sunday March 26, 2017 at the age of 85. She was born in Mt. Vernon, Illinois to Ralph and Vivian (Rich) Roth on March 12, 1932. June Roth married her beloved John Long in Mt. Vernon, Illinois on May 2, 1953.
June was the church secretary at the Northside Baptist Church in Florissant, Missouri, and was the District Secretary of the Hazelwood School for many years. She moved to Bowling Green, Kentucky where she was ordained in 1994 to serve in the Southern Baptist Church ministry. June moved to Durant, Oklahoma and was the secretary at the Silo Baptist Church where she supported “Chapy” as a volunteer Chaplin for the Durant Police Department. She enjoyed sharing the gospel of her Lord Jesus Christ, reading, and watching Hallmark movies.
Mrs. Long is survived by her children; son, Larry Long and wife Robbin of St. Peters Missouri, and daughters, Sandra Williams and husband Don of Davenport, Florida, and Carol Crain and husband Scott of Durant, Oklahoma; brothers, Larry Roth and wife Judy of Springfield, Missouri, Bill Roth and wife Janice of Springfield, Missouri, Frank Roth and wife Linda of St. Peters, Missouri and Jack Roth of Durant, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Michael Long and wife Erin of Linn Creek, Missouri, Brandon Long and wife Shannon of O’Fallon, Missouri, John McKee and wife Melanie of Bowling Green, Kentucky, Thomas McKee and wife Shavawn of Sherman, Texas, Nick McKee and wife Carrie of Davenport, Florida, Drew Crain and wife Erin of Edmond, Oklahoma and Chase Crain and wife Sarah of Durant, Oklahoma; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Long was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Vivian Roth; husband, John Long; sister, Janis Ford; grandson, Brandon McKee; and niece, Vickie Roth.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Victory Home Health and Hospice, and the staff of Featherstone Assisted Living for June’s loving care.
June’s family respectfully request that memorials be made to the Fusion Bible Building Fund, PO Box 682, Durant, Oklahoma 74702.
A memorial service was held at 11:00 Monday March 27th at the Holmes~Coffey~Murray Chapel in Durant, Oklahoma with Bill Cox and Dennis Henderson officiating.
