ENID - Memorial service for Gertrude L. Long, 92, of Enid, will be 2 p.m. Saturday, June 11, 2011, at Brown-Cummings Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Todd Hurst, Salina United Methodist Church, officiating.Cremation was conducted under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.
Gertrude was born July 17, 1918, to Mr. Long and Hazel Dell-Long in Enid, Okla., and died Monday, June 6, 2011, at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center.
She was born and raised in Enid, graduating from Enid High School in 1936.
She worked at F.W. Woolworth and then as a care-giver for the state school until her retirement in 1980. After retirement, she enjoyed traveling.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary L. Cordell and husband Johnnie of Enid; son, Neal M. Coleman and wife Linda of Phoenix; 15 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; children, Kay Biggs and Jackie Comfort; three grandchildren; three sisters; and one brother.
Memorials may be made in her memory to American Diabetes Association with Brown-Cummings Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
