The Reverend Dr. Steven Ray Little, STS, passed away in his home in Blanchard, on April 17, 2023. The oldest son of Lois Ann and Johnny Brown, Sr., Steven was born in Orlando, Florida on October 5, 1952.
Steven graduated from Palo Duro High School in Amarillo, Texas and then received his bachelor’s degree from Concordia University in Austin, Texas. Steven had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge and furthered his education earning his doctorate’s degree in Divinity from the Concordia Theological Seminary in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. Steven spoke, read, and could write in Latin, Hebrew, Greek and German. He used this knowledge in his sermons and also to translate the scripture from original text to modern day English. He began his service in ministry working as a youth minister before pastoring.
Steven pastored at several churches beginning at Lutheran Church of the Atonement in St. Louis, Missouri, then to Salem, Missouri to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, to Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mankato, Kansas and Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Hoisington, Kansas. After moving to Oklahoma, Steven served as a relief pastor at University Lutheran Church in Norman and Peace Lutheran Church in Moore before retiring. Steven was a beloved brother, friend, and mentor who touched many lives and made such a difference in this world. He will be greatly missed by those who loved him and whose lives he touched.
Steven is preceded in death by his parents, Lois Ann and Johnny Brown, Sr. and grandparents, Alfred Anderson and Selma Anderson.
Steven is survived by his five siblings, who he helped watch over and care for, Debbie Johnson and husband Dan of Blanchard, Oklahoma, Bill Little and wife Teresa of Tallahassee, Florida, Jerry Little and Patricia Themer of Venice, Florida, Johnny Brown, Jr. of Fate, Texas, and Karen Brown of Blanchard, Oklahoma. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, Goddaughters, other family members, and many life-long friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Monday, April 24, 2023, at the University Lutheran Church and Student Center, 914 Elm Avenue, Norman, Oklahoma. Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home. Online obituary and guestbook are available at www.eisenhourfh.com.
