Gerald L. "Jerry" Lisle

Gerald L. "Jerry" Lisle
April 20, 1946 ~ February 7, 2023 76 Years Old

Jerry inspired many of us through his own demonstrated actions, his words of wisdom, his vast experience and knowledge, his creativity and aptitude, but mostly through his well-placed and often very-encouraging…heart of gold.

Jerry was born Gerald L. Lisle on April 20th 1946, to Elvis and Leatha Lisle of Denver, Colorado. Jerry attended school in Denver and enjoyed working on cars, racing cars, and anything automotive. After completing school in the early 1960’s, Jerry began his life’s work as an upholster. Jerry could do it all, he could build a pleated couch, a racecar seat, a boat cover, or sew a patch on your Cub-Scout Uniform. Jerry took a great deal of pride in the work he performed and always strove for perfection in his work and craft.

In May of 1972 he married his sweetheart, Linda K. Carr. Linda had two wonderful daughters Cindy L. Lisle and Christie M. Lisle and later the two had a son, Thomas H. Lisle. Throughout the years together, Jerry led the family on a trek through Colorado, Utah, and finally to Oklahoma where they settled in the early 1980’s. Jerry quickly found work in the oil & gas industry working on an oil rig, which afforded him the opportunity to travel around the state and make a great living for the family. After a couple short years doing that work, Jerry found his way back to the upholstery industry where he worked for the University of Oklahoma for nearly 30-years.

Jerry was also an avid Denver Bronco and Oklahoma State Cowboy Football Fan. Throughout the years, he was a season-ticket holder and enjoyed attending games and tailgating with friends and family. He also enjoyed working in his garage on the weekend, tinkering with models and trains, wood crafting, and anything that challenged his skills.

Jerry also took a great deal of time in teaching those around him. Over the years of living here in Tecumseh, many of us started getting to know him by getting the tires aired up on our bicycles to eventually getting his help fixing our cars, refrigerators, lawnmowers, and everything in between.

Jerry passed away in the early hours of February 7th, 2023 in his home. He is survived by many friends and family that loved and cherished the time he shared with us.

Memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon, Saturday, February 18, 2023 at Jerry's home at 1221 Rolling Stone Drive, Tecumseh, OK.
